Frequently asked questions
What coffee specialities can the Philips Baristina prepare?
Does the machine have an integrated milk frother or milk tank?
Can I adjust the cup size and coffee strength?
You can increase the coffee strength using the Boost button - this grinds an additional 1.5 grams of coffee. We have preset the water amount for Espresso & Café Crema. However, you can change the water amount - anything from 30-200ml is possible.
- Espresso: Standard setting is 40 ml (adjustable between 30 ml and 70 ml).
- Café Crema: Standard setting is 110 ml (adjustable between 70 ml and 200 ml).
Does the machine have a built-in grinder and can the grind size be adjusted?
Is a ceramic grinder as durable as a stainless steel grinder?
Is the machine easy to use, even for beginners?
How extensive is the cleaning process? What do I need to clean?
How often does the machine need to be descaled? And is a water filter required?
How much pressure does the machine have?
The pump pressure is 16 Bar - the powerful pump ensures a constant and optimal pressure throughout the entire extraction for a perfect brewing result.
An experienced barista would adjust the grind size for an ideal Espresso or Café Crema and consider the bean selection and roast level to avoid over or under extraction. With Baristina, we've developed the ideal 'sweet spot' for Espresso and Café Crema, without requiring grind size adjustments or letting external factors like coffee variety play too big a role. By using a brewing pressure of 6 bar, combined with innovative control of the water flow rate, we achieve a perfect extraction profile and a balanced taste, regardless of the coffee variety used.
